Significance
Masik Shivratri is the monthly Shivratri, observed on the Chaturdashi of the Krishna paksha every lunar month. It is a night of devotion to Lord Shiva, of which Maha Shivratri (in Phalguna) is the grandest.
The vrat is especially favoured by those seeking Shiva's grace, spiritual progress and the fulfilment of desires.
Rituals
Devotees fast and worship the Shivling through the night, particularly in the nishita kaal (midnight), with abhishek, bel leaves and the chanting of "Om Namah Shivaya." Unmarried women observe it for a good husband.
