What is Amrit Siddhi Yoga?

Amrit Siddhi Yoga is one of the most auspicious yogas in the panchang, formed when a particular nakshatra falls on its paired weekday. On such a day the combination is said to bestow success ("siddhi") on almost any good work begun in it. The yoga lasts for the overlap of that nakshatra with the weekday — from sunrise to the next sunrise.

The seven combinations

Amrit Siddhi Yoga forms on these weekday-and-nakshatra pairs:

  • Sunday + Hasta
  • Monday + Mrigashira
  • Tuesday + Ashwini
  • Wednesday + Anuradha
  • Thursday + Pushya
  • Friday + Revati
  • Saturday + Rohini

What to keep in mind

While broadly auspicious, tradition adds a few cautions: on Tuesday avoid Griha Pravesh (house-warming), on Thursday avoid marriage, and on Saturday avoid travel during this yoga. For most other work — new ventures, purchases, investments and charity — it is a favourable time.

How the timings are set

The nakshatra begins and ends at the same instant everywhere, but the weekday is measured from your local sunrise to the next sunrise — so the window depends on your location. Set your city above so the times are correct for you.
