Choosing a Muhurat to buy property
A home or land is among life's biggest acquisitions, so tradition places great value on completing it in an auspicious window. The fourth house (Sukhsthana) and its karakas — Mars, Venus and Saturn — govern property; a favourable weekday, tithi and nakshatra together mark a good time to proceed.
The classical rules used here
- Weekdays — all seven days can carry an auspicious window for real estate.
- Tithis — Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi and Trayodashi; Amavasya, Purnima and the Rikta tithis are avoided.
- Nakshatras — the fixed and soft/auspicious nakshatras favoured for durable acquisitions (Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Uttara Bhadrapada, Revati, Ashwini, Pushya).
